Colette Colette Quotes
Writer
Colette Colette was writer from France
“make mistakes, but consciously. take a step, learn, take the next step.”— Colette Colette
Colette lived this line literally. Her first husband, Henri Gauthier-Villars (Willy), forced her to write novels and published them under his name. When she left, she had to start from zero: performing half-naked on stage for money. Parisian society was scandalized. She did not stop. By sixty she was the most famous woman writer in France.
The Story of Colette

Colette died on August 3, 1954, in Paris. She was 81. The Catholic Church refused her a funeral mass because of her two divorces. The state gave her a civil funeral, the first ever for a woman in France. She is buried at Pere Lachaise cemetery.
