Dante Alighieri

Ravenna

Dante died on September 14, 1321, in Ravenna of malaria. He was fifty-six. Florence repeatedly asked for his remains to be returned. Ravenna refused every time. He is buried there to this day. The Comedy was called Divine half a century after his death. Boccaccio added the word.
