The Story of Neil
Cincinnati, August 25
After Apollo 11, Armstrong never flew in space again. He left NASA in 1971 and became a professor of aerospace engineering at the University of Cincinnati. He taught for eight years, avoided interviews, and turned down almost every commercial offer. He died on August 25, 2012, at eighty-two, from complications following heart surgery. His family asked that people honor him by blinking at the Moon. The quietest man who ever did the loudest thing in history.
