The Story of Пабло

Origins

Málaga Prodigy

Born in Málaga, Spain, 1881. His father José Ruiz Blasco taught art, and by age seven Pablo completed his first oil painting 'Le Picador'. He drew before he could speak. At thirteen, he surpassed his father's skill. In 1895, the family moved to Barcelona, where Pablo enrolled in La Llotja art school, completing the entrance exam in one day instead of the standard month.

The Rise

Cubism Born

1907. Paris. Picasso unveiled 'Les Demoiselles d'Avignon' at his Bateau-Lavoir studio. Critics called it barbaric. Collectors walked out. Even his friend Henri Matisse called it a hoax. But Georges Braque saw something revolutionary. Together they invented Cubism, fragmenting reality into geometric planes. By 1910, their work dominated avant-garde Paris.

At the Peak

Guernica Unleashed

April 1937. The Spanish Pavilion commissioned an anti-war mural. Picasso created 'Guernica' in five weeks, a 25-foot scream against Franco's bombing of Basque civilians. Black, white, grey. Distorted bodies, a screaming horse, a mother holding her dead child. No beauty, only horror. It toured the world, banned from Spain until Franco's death in 1975.

Legacy

Death and Legacy

Pablo Picasso died April 8, 1973, in Mougins, France, age 91. He left over 50,000 artworks: paintings, sculptures, ceramics, prints. His work appears in every major museum. Cubism reshaped modern art forever. Today, his paintings sell for over $100 million. But his real legacy is permission to break rules, to destroy and rebuild, to see the world in fragments and make it whole again.
