Seven Thousand Letters

Ignatius died in Rome on July 31, 1556. By then his Society of Jesus had over a thousand members across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. He left behind his Spiritual Exercises, the Constitutions, and nearly seven thousand letters. He was canonized in 1622. Today the Jesuits remain the largest male religious order in the Catholic Church.
