Tacitus says Boudica poisoned herself rather than be captured. Cassius Dio says she died of illness. No one knows which account is true. In Celtic, her name means victory. In 1902, a bronze statue of Boudica in her chariot was placed at Westminster Bridge in London. The woman who fought Rome stands at the center of what Rome's empire eventually became.
